About Jake

Jake is a large purebred Standard Poodle from a long blood line of show dogs. He was born in Maryland, and he just celebrated his 4th birthday. When I met Jake, he was a month-old puppy, month old puppy but he’s up to 82 pounds now and stands 29” inches at the shoulders.

Jake is very high energy, but gentle when he wants to be. One of his handlers commented that “Jake is not going to do what Jake does not want to do.”

Jake is by no means perfect or low-maintenance or predictable. He can be poised and charming, but he can also steal food from the kitchen counter when I’m not home.
Jake is very selective, in that he has only a few dog friends, and the doesn’t like other dogs to approach. But he has been petted by so many people that he now expects everyone to pet him.

Jake loves his toys, and he has quite a collection. He runs up and down the stairs with them, but sometimes he carefully arranges them in geometric patterns on the floor.
Jake seems to be very excited about his own blog, probably because he will finally get the attention he deserves.
